Xiaomi 14 or OnePlus 12: A Buyer's Dilemma

Comparing Xiaomi 14 and OnePlus 12

Both the recently launched Xiaomi 14 and OnePlus 12 share similarities in their features. They both come equipped with a trio-camera setup, run on Android 14, and are powered by state-of-the-art processors.

However, when it comes to battery life, the OnePlus 12 takes the lead with a larger 5400mAh battery compared to Xiaomi's 4610mAh. The OnePlus 12 also offers faster charging speeds with 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging included in the box.

Xiaomi's 14, on the other hand, boasts a 90W HyperCharge technology promising a full charge in just 30 minutes, along with 50W wireless charging capabilities for a 46-minute full charge.

In terms of durability, the Xiaomi 14 surpasses the OnePlus 12 with its IP68 rating, making it water-resistant up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes. Meanwhile, the OnePlus 12 only has an IP65 rating, which means it can withstand water jets but not immersion.

When it comes to display brightness, the OnePlus 12 shines with a peak brightness of 4500 nits, making it ideal for any lighting conditions. Xiaomi 14, on the other hand, offers a commendable 3000 nits of peak brightness.

Furthermore, software-wise, the OnePlus 12 runs on OxygenOS, praised for its customization options and long-term software support with up to four years of OS upgrades and five years of bi-monthly security patches. In contrast, Xiaomi 14 operates on a rebranded Android system, with early reviews suggesting it lacks the individuality and strength of OxygenOS.
